Melt your butter in a small saucepan on low - medium heat or in a microwave-safe bowl, set aside and let it cool down.
In a medium bowl whisk together your dry ingredients; flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside for later use.
In a large bowl pour in both of your sugars and the melted butter. Mix for about 2 minutes until there are no lumps.
Add in your vanilla extract and eggs (1 egg and 1 egg yolk). Mix until smooth
Now add in the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. After the dough has formed fold in the chocolate chips.
Cover the chocolate chip cookie dough and chill for 30 minutes or longer.
I like to form the cookie balls then chill them so I'm not struggling to scoop out hard cookie dough.
Preheat your oven to 330°-350°, line your baking sheet and pop those cookies in! Bake for 10 minutes. I like to under bake the cookies and let them sit in the oven for 5 minutes while its off to get it just right
